Our therapists provide individual therapy for children, youth and adults with a range of mental health needs including anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, developmental trauma, attachment difficulties, and chronic pain. Our therapists are trained in a variety of treatment approaches and will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan to meet your needs.

  • Family Therapy

Working with both couples and families with children, our therapists focus on relational patterns, communication styles, conflict management, co-parenting, and problem-solving skills to improve family functioning. Using a combination of family-group, sub-group, and individual-member sessions, our therapists work with all members of the family to develop a treatment plan and to work towards set goals.

Assessment

Guide Mental Health offers mental health assessments to help individuals and families to better understand the root causes of their symptoms and patterns of behaviours.

Mental Health Assessments typically involve a number of individual interviews, as well as interviews including significant people in the client’s life. They may also include review of previous assessment or treatment reports, and contact with other service providers such as doctors or schools. At the end of the assessment period, clients will be provided with a verbal feedback of the findings and proposed treatment plan, as well as a comprehensive written report (with referrals, if appropriate).

Please note that Registered Social Workers in Canada are unable to offer a DSM diagnosis.

Consultation and Education

As awareness of the prevalence and impact of mental health increases, community agencies, government organizations, and private corporations are looking for ways to increase education and develop policies that met the changing needs of the population.

Guide Mental Health therapists have a wealth of experience in health care, education, immigration, criminal justice, family law, not-for-profit, and international social work. We can use our experience of the intersection of these services with mental health to work with your organization to develop training for your staff and to grow your policies and procedures to ensure mental wellness for both your employees and your customers.

Guide Mental Health also offers clinical supervision to therapists working in private practice and training for mental health service providers on the In-Home model of treatment services.
