Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer services in the evening and on weekends?

Yes, we do. We try our best to be as flexible as possible to eliminate many of the barriers to accessing services and to be present in your home during the times that we are most needed.

Do you charge for travel time to get to and from my home?

No, our hourly fee includes travel time to and from the agreed upon treatment location as long as it is in the City of Toronto. If you require your therapist to join you at another location (such as your child’s school or your doctor’s office), you will be charged mileage at a rate of 0.47 cents per kilometre in addition to the hourly rate.

Given the unpredictable nature of Toronto traffic, public transportation, and weather, we ask that you be sensitive to the fact that there may be times when our therapists may not arrive at the exact agreed upon time. You will not be charged for this time and your 1+ hour session will begin when your therapist arrives.

What if I live outside of the City of Toronto – can I still receive services through Guide Mental Health?

Depending on the availability of our therapists, we may be able to offer you in-home services outside of the City. If your therapist meets with you outside of the city, you will be charged mileage at a rate of 0.47 cents per kilometres in addition to the hourly rate. We may also be able to offer you remote therapy using electronic applications such as Skype or Facetime.

I have pets in my home – is that a problem?

Our therapists love animals and appreciate the value they add to people’s lives. If your animal(s) is friendly, they are welcome to join the session. If your pet is nervous of strangers or has an unpredictable temperament, we kindly ask that you keep your animal in a separate room for the duration of the session. We also ask that clients refrain from consuming alcohol and non-prescriptions drugs prior to and during your session,  and ask that you smoke outdoors while your therapist is present.
